CFISD Student of the Week: Andres Antochiw

May 2, 2016—Keith Elementary School fourth-grade student Andres Antochiw has excelled in his first year at Keith since struggling with the English language at the beginning of the school year. Now, the HORIZONS gifted and talented student likes to help other students with their own language and academic struggles. When he’s not in class, he can be found working his way through the third reading of the entire Harry Potter series, and he plans to join a competitive soccer league this summer.

Accomplishments: Accepted into the gifted and talented program at Keith; remains at the top of the class; excels in most assignments; helps other students with their own struggles.

Favorite class: Math. “It's an opportunity to be creative when working with problems and numbers.”

Favorite things to do after class: Read and play sports. “I have read the Harry Potter saga two times this year. I love soccer and currently play in a recreational league with Fairfield Sports.”

Favorite song: “Anything that is popular right now.”

Favorite website: YouTube. “I like to watch videos of home science projects, DIY, sports and other cool stuff.”

Favorite TV show: The Adventures of Gumball and Adventure Time.

Favorite movie: “I don’t have a favorite but mostly like comedy-action movies.”

Ambition: “I want to grow up to be a software engineer. Sometimes I want to be a professional soccer player.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? Reading and sports.

What inspires you? “My uncle Mike, because we have similar personalities and he is a good role model.”

What three things can’t you live without? Video games, books and family.

What are you most looking forward to this year? “Being at the top of my class and joining the HORIZONS program.”
